The second day of Cowes Week at the Island Sailing Club was one of celebration, tradition and a truly memorable occasion, with members and guests enjoying a special programme of events.
The highlight of the day was a lunchtime visit from our Patron, HRH The Princess Royal, Princess Anne, who attended a private gathering with the Club’s Officers, Management, Sailing Officers and Volunteers. During her visit, Her Royal Highness officially unveiled a commemorative plaque marking the Queen Elizabeth ll Room, celebrating its significance within the Club and its enduring connection to our royal heritage. It was a tremendous honour to welcome our Patron to the Club during one of the most prestigious weeks in the sailing calendar. Following the royal visit, the celebrations continued with a delightful Royal Afternoon Tea overlooking the Solent. Members and guests gathered to enjoy a quintessentially British afternoon, indulging in freshly baked scones with jam and cream, delicate finger sandwiches and an array of sweet treats, all perfectly accompanied by refreshing glasses of Pimm’s. The atmosphere was relaxed and sociable, with the Club’s terraces providing the ideal setting to enjoy the sunshine, spectacular racing and unrivalled views across the water.
With Cowes Week in full swing, the Island Sailing Club continues to offer a unique blend of world-class sailing, exceptional hospitality and unforgettable social occasions. From royal visits to relaxed afternoons shared with friends, the Club remains at the heart of the Cowes Week experience, bringing together sailors, members and visitors to celebrate the rich traditions and vibrant spirit of this iconic regatta.
